Twitter's impact on world politics and democracy

WASHINGTON, DC – I’m quite sure that when Jack Dorsey was creating Twitter based on the software he developed to dispatch couriers, taxis, and emergency services; he never thought that it would be used to influence elections, overthrow governments or futher democracy. 

But here is it, 3 years later and Twitter is delaying scheduled maintenance so as to not disrupt Twittering during the Iranian political crisis that is developing over last Friday’s reported election results.
